Artivism & Responsibility:
Honouring the Roots of What We Dance
This one-hour session invites dancers and festival participants to reflect on the roots of the artforms we love – and the responsibility that comes with them.
We will explore whether art rooted in marginalized or oppressed lineages can ever be “apolitical”, and what it means to honour a culture beyond simply taking what suits us.
The format is simple and light: a short opening input, a few minutes of small-pair reflections with the person next to you, and a live conversation that will be recorded for a podcast episode.
The session will be held in English and is open to everyone who is curious about the stories, histories and power dynamics inside what we dance.
